On this beach, between October and March, you can witness an extraordinary natural phenomenon as huge sea turtles emerge from the ocean to lay their eggs. These leatherback turtles measure up to two meters long, and can weigh up to 1500 pounds.

The turtles wait until nightfall to come up onto the beach and lay their eggs. The turtle selects a spot above the high tide line, then digs a hole about 60 centimeters deep and lays about 100 eggs before re-filling the hole with sand and returning to the sea. Flashlights and noises can confuse the turtles, causing them to return to the sea without laying the eggs. It is forbbiden to take photos.
