After breakfast we will drive to the small village
Puerto Humo (about 1 ½ hours from Samara). The village is located
at the bank of the Tempisque River, where enormous mangroves have grown
up over many years. During our 3 hours boat tour we will pass the bird
island an impresive birder’s paradise, catching sight of birds like
cormorants, wood storks, white ibis, roseate spoonbills, anhingas, different
kind of herons etc. In addition we will see crocodiles (5 meter long),
hugelizards, howler monkeys and white face monkeys. After the boattrip
we will have lunch and continue to the village of Guaitil, where locals
produce pottery, using traditional tecniques and authentic materials as
used by the ancient indians of this region. Nearly every house has ist
own oven and sells handmade ceramicas.
